Do you think Obasanjo performed credibly well in the last 8 years of his reign as president of Nigeria

i am very sorry to say that some Nigerians are the biggest cowards. they only remember our leadesr deeds when they are in power and not only forgeet them, but castigate when they are outside the corridors of power. in my opinion . OBJ was one of the best leaders that God has sent to rule our country. for me ii will remember OBJ for the following.

1. pension reforms- in a long time the pensions of retired civil servants was borne and managed  solely by the federal Government. at that time, some civil servants were not sure of their entitlements at the end of service. some even die queing up for their benefits at the various pension offices.PFCs & PFAs were granted licenses as specialised instituitions to manage these pensions on behalf of these pensioners. as a result one is guaranteed pensions as we do not need to queue up or die at the govt offices before receeiving our benefits. our statement of contributions are sent to us each quarters
. banking reforms. before the banking reforms, some banks were operating with other funds other than their share capital. some banks close up as aresult of lax regulations. now i can bank my money aND GO TO SLEEP WITH TWO EYES.

3.ban on cement importation-  this was a meant to support local production of cement as asgainst unbridled importation of same. People like Dangote wrere encouraged to employ and empower people by establishing cement industries across nigeria. flour mills plc followed suit and other existing plants increased their respective capacities.

4. privatisation of public enterprises such as NITEL NAHCo NASCON some of which were [practically dead became  the order of the day. these enterprisies were  became conduits where top government offficials siphon public funds abroad  to their secret personal accounts. thank God privatisation has ended that even with stiff opposition by labour union leaders  who were beneficiaries of the rot in the sysytem.

5. establishment of the EFCC and other law enforcement agencies set to prosecute untouchable offenders also scoring high marks and putting Nigeria back into the good books of the World

6.debt re payment- no country can move forward under the conditions set by others. the High chief took the bold step of giving Nigeria a good re start by repaying those debts.

7. influx of foreijgn investment. wether portfolio or not we have had an influx of foreign investments in nigeria especially in the financial sector and in industry.

8. civil servants have cause to smile as some who never thought of riding a car or building house through out their working lives now have the oppotunity to do so.

these are a bit of his achievements.

we do not remember that it was IBB that killed this ,country through his Structural Adjustment programmmes that impoverised this country and Nigerians re named the programme , Suffer And Poverty. we also did not remember that Gen Abacha siphoned Billions of dollars to swiss accounts. we also did not remember that Gen Buhari took Nigeria back to the stone age where we had to engage in counter trade( trade by barter) and eventually proscribed commodity boards.. we also do not remember that Pres. Shagari s goverment started this issue of borrowing foreign money for development that did not eventually come. OBJ might have his own faults and bad sides such as favouring his friends in goverment, and sellig public on performing assets to his cronies ,missing funds in NNPC, his shares intranscorp and all that, let us give him his due place in history as one of our best. my verdict is HE HAS PERFORMED CREDITABLY WELL

cheers
